Measurement technology
Voltammetry, from electrode to concentration.
An introduction to the electrochemical method behind the OVA and PDV platforms.
Principle
A response specific to potential.
In stripping voltammetry, target metal species are accumulated at a working electrode and then measured as the applied potential changes. The resulting current response is used to identify and quantify the analyte.
The method defines conditioning, reagents, pH and any required digestion or filtration.
Target species are concentrated at the working electrode to improve trace-level sensitivity.
The potential sequence produces characteristic responses for the selected analytes.
Calibration and method controls convert the response into a reported concentration.
Method selection
The chemistry matters.
Detection limit, selectivity, precision and sample throughput depend on the metal, matrix, electrode, preparation and measurement programme. Final claims should therefore be presented by approved method—not as one universal specification.
